460 bellhousing problem third one cracked HELP plzz
hi guys i got a 86 f250 460 4wd 4 speed i got it about 4 years ago the bellhouseing broke 2 times and broke one more time just about 2 weeks ago so i got an other one. the third time it broke i thought it was my fault because i seen the cross member bolts missing so i change it and it broke 2 days after i changed it. my clutch pedal was all ways hard to push down but i thought it was a 460 thing that's how it should be. but how i'm thinking that it could be the clutch pressure plate putting too much stress on the aluminum bell housing makeing it brake could that be the problem should i change the clutch because i don't know what to do.any other ideas y it's cracking

Wow, that could get annoying in a hurry ...
Somethings bent, throwout binding on the nose cone, wrong fork or the pressure plate is too stiff.
There is not much side load strength to the pivot boss, if things are not aligned, it could be applying a side load on the pivot ball.
-Enjoy

Yes, I thought you might have a motor mount/major engine bellhousing alignment problem, but it sounds like you have something wrong with the clutch.
The front of the tranny has a hollow tube that the input shaft runs through the middle. This hollow tube is where the throwout bearing slides. This has been known to get dry and make the clutch effort too high. I would also inspect the pressure plate. Make sure all the fingers are at the same height. If they are not, you may have a problem with it.
