I always use 93 because I have spark knock if I don't. I have used 87 one time but I had to put a can of octane booster in it.

Your truck has issues that should be addressed.

It should be fine on 87 octane. If it's not, there is something that needs to be addressed.

Don't use octane booster, depending on what it is, it can hurt the O2 sensors and the catalytic converter. But definitely try to figure out why it's pinging.

I use 87 50% of the time and 91the other 50% I've been running test to see if while towing it pays back enought or not. I keep a log book but have not done all the calculatoins yet but i do know it gets better with the 91 but not sure if it pays for the difrance in price or not. My truck is only rarely driven with out the 11,000 trailer hanging off the back, I tried to break it in before hauling the trailer ~2500. It's got just over 10,000 mile on it now.
I need to sit down with the calculator and run the numbers.

Nice! I thought we had to run 89 or higher since its a v10. Glad we can run 87 though since gas prices here in San Diego suck!

I run 87 octane unless I am traveling at altitudes above 4000 then often I use 85 octane. I can't tell the difference when driving. This is also with a 10,000lb travel trailer.

I too only use 87 unless I'm at high altitude then I use 85. I tow a 12K pound 5th wheel.
