I love to hunt and camp but I was never taught to fish. I want to go to Alaska in 2012 so I need someone to show me the ropes...

Probably also depends on how picky you are. I always go for duallys, so to me none of my dealers really have any "inventory" even though they have 10-15 SRW's sitting on their lot.

I've noticed that 08-09-10 DRW SDs are a lot cheaper then the SRW counterparts. I was surprised to find this on ebay as well as on other online shopping venues.

Rickatic - I go to Alaska just about every year - I have a operation just north of Fairbanks (above Manley) that keeps me busy in my spare time, But generally there is no time for the fishing - work, work, work........

I see you are into hauling your HQ around in style.

Well, let me see how far I got now...

Extended E van 2005 6.0

2" R20 insulation on 3 sides (not front and back)

Intended to be comfortable with 18000 btu propane stove down to -40F.

Short Queen bed across rear wheels

Upper cabinet on top of one side of bed

Kitchen counter beside side rear door, microwave topside

3 drawer counter behind driver seat, mini- fridge on top

110V wired throughout

3/4" maple hardwood flooring

----------
Work that remains to be done next season:

trimming, 12V systems

Water system, propane system tweak

Waste system (do I stick with potta pottie)

Cooking system: am I happy with butane stove and occasional mwave?

Upgrade 980w UPS to 1500watt UPS to power microwave
or add small generator outside or 2kva inverter with house batteries

---------------

Total expenditures to date... a nose below 5 figures.

That include the acquisition cost of the van.
