I know that some fairlanes and galaxies had 4 speeds with od units on the back. I would check into that, you would have to shorten the drive shaft and possibly modify or relocate the crossmember.
hmmm. i noticed our local u-pull-it had a new galaxy in it, thats an idea. what transmission is in it-so i can get a ballpark range of things i would need if i could get it

Some had 3 speeds with ODs on the tail, as did lots of PU trucks.
The 4 speeds in those cars were performance 4 speeds, either the BW T10 or Ford T&C "TopLoader". Both are 1:1 4th gear. First is 2.78 or 2.32, not so truck-like.
hmmmmmm, im leading more and more towards an automatic
Nice..a AOD is very Nice..Just Very expensive unless you rebuild your own trans. $850.00 for the adapter ++++ 1300-1800 for a AOD to handle the Big Block torque and weight of a truck

if i went the AT route, it wil not be an AOD. I would probably go 4r70w. But i will look into them more when i have some time. i may go with a deisel trans, not sure yet
But very nice
The trouble with any of those is they won't bolt up to your block. The AOD has an adapter that I suppose would work with a 4R70W, but that trans is electronically controlled.
The trick is to put AODE and 4R70W parts in an AOD, which is explained in part at this site. They also show the adapters about halfway down the page.
i have no idea what im gonna do yet, which i guess ill have time to think since my bank account is zero, with my DD in the trans shop getting a rebuild.
I saw Clark mentioned earlier. That is what I went with on my 352. I got a Clark 265 out of a 1966 Ford B700 (School Bus) It had a 330 in it as well. I took the bellhousing, and flywheel along with the starter and bought a new Clutch disc, flywheel, pilot bearing, and throwout bearing for the School bus application at Napa and it all bolted up to my 352. *Note: The 352 has the same crank as the 330 M/D
Another Note: The bellhousing was cast with two mounts and the trans with none. So In some cases you might have to go with a single forward engine mount and not two side mounts. I don't know if your truck is set up this way or not. But just a heads up.
Yet Another Note: There are a few different Clark Transmissions (Patterns are out of a 66 Ford Large truck Manual.)
4 spd shift pattern.

There are also a few different models of Clarks. I got the 265 There are a few variants of it but the one you want is the 285. Lots better parts availability.
Is the clark much heavier or larger than the T18/19 ?
