Question used a different fuel station..now less smoke?

like it says...where i live, there are 2 places to get fuel. i have always got it at the local citgo because it was cheaper than the other place, but my last fill-up i used the different station. now i seem to be getting less black smoke when romping on it. could it be my imagination or different fuel? will "better" fuel cause that? it does cost 10 cents more, but if its better i have no problem paying a little more. thanks alot

Not sure on the better fuel part. Not even sure how to determine if one stations fuel is better than the other....I mainly buy fuel made of US owned oil companies.
Anyway...my truck does not smoke much at all in the lower tunes.....Black smoke is un-burned fuel.

I'm not sure about the smoke thing, but it seems I get less milage from Murphy fuel lately. Our local Murphy sells alot of diesel, and they're always a little cheaper, but lately it seems the milage has gone way down, maybe it's just me.....Thoughts?

I buy alot of Murhpy fuel as well but I am bad about not checking mileage because I have several short runs, letting the truck idle alot and running on the farm so my mileage is hard to calculate.

I seem to get better mileage running Shell. But their fuel prices vary widely -- it's over $3.00 a gallon in some places (next to the interstate) and around $2.75 in other places. Go figure. I used to run Murphy fuel all the time -- it's Shell now. The few pennies difference (at some stations) is made up for by the mileage.

jasonch is starting off with a positive reputation.
it seems that i can tell a big difference in where i fuel up as far as mileage goes. thought it was in my head, but my dad noticed to. i was kind of thinking some of the other places may just run the "winter blend" year around.

Could it be the sulfer PPM? We have a Sunoco that still sells low sulfer but most others sell the ultra low sulfer.
