rust kill

Gave it a good cleaning then soaked inside and outside with 2 gals of OSPHO (phosphoric acid) rust kill, using a pump sprayer. I have used this for years don't hear much about others using it? Used this rust kill method for years on all my restore projects with good luck. It really gets down in between the tight spots. Just wondering your all's input? Still have to paint but not as quick as sand blasting. I got the truck rust killed, primed inside and out and the front removed in just a few days. At $125 for primer $30.00 for rust kill. Working on the brakes, replacing lines, hoses etc. Going to leave everything stock.

I have used the same sort of thing with great results, but your right, you don't hear much about that method. We had a shrimp boat, the metal rigging operated in the most caustic environment of all, salt water. At the local marine supply we were able to buy "Rust Kill", basically the same thing as ospho for a lot cheaper than the name brand stuff. We'd clean the rust off as best we could, paint that stuff on, then topcoat with paint. Anyway, works great, last a long time, probably a lot longer since your not covering the parts in salt water and spray. I used the same thing on the steel wheels on my F-5 and painted them white, so far, nothing is showing through. J

long time ago 20+yrs someone told me he'd would use meratic acid to etch the paint service before he would paint anything. This stuff also does the same thing 1 part to 3 parts water! Don't seemed to be as strong acid type base but you should read lable for safety.

I just used some Ospho tonight on some valve covers for another project. It's good stuff!

Good stuff. I am using it on a 1955 Ford 850 tractor at this time. Been using it on cars and trucks for years.
