1989 F150 XLT Lariat engine troubles? HELP!!!
Hello I am new to this site and to the ford brand itself. i decided to take on a project. it would be a 1989 F150 XLT Lariat 5.0 5 speed. the problem i am having with the truck is when i start it, it just dies unless i tap the throttle several times. it starts right up everytime, but again it just stalls unless i press the gas a few times. . previous owner told me the throttle position needs to be reset to zero. never heard of it. can anyone help? i wanna fix the engine problems before i start on the body work. any

The previous owner could be talking about throttle position sensor. Just not sure about reset to zero unless they had messed with it. To check it you will need to check the voltage. Here's a link to help. Ford Fuel Injection Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) And there are people on here much smarter then Me on this stuff that will help you out.
