Do a search for ELC (extended life coolant). You should really consider switching over to ELC. It's stated to last something insane like 750,000 miles. It may cost a bit more initially but you may never have to change coolant again. And from what I understand... no addatives required.

As I recall almost all heavy equipment manufactures have some kind of ELC... ie, CAT, Case, IH, John Deere, etc.

I think I even found that Peak had an ELC available through Napa.

Here's a writeup that I found on another site on flushing the system.

Ford Super Duty Coolant Flushing Procedure | Superdutypsd.com

Although, this site's no where near as good as FTE.

Good luck and let everyone know how it turns out and what route you go.

I agree!

And since it seemed like every other diesel forum site out there had Gooch's procedure except us, I posted Gooch's coolant flush procedure here! https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...ml#post8935201

But the one thing my thread here at FTE has over all the other forums out there that list Gooch's flush procedure is, the thread here at FTE also lists all the compiled ELC information Gooch has posted over the years. It's not JUST the backflush procedure.

I picked up a case of Delo 50/50 ELC at my local Chevron Dealer, not a service station, and it came out to 9.55/gallon. Ron (Luny1) gave me 2 gallons of concentrate and I was set with some to spare.

This is Izzy...

Joe, you ARE the man. Because until this happens...

This is you, bro!

On the other hand, others may look at doing the mods you've done on your PMR engine, wanting to do the same to their PMR engine (like me), and all they (we) see is this....

Rob, sorry for the derailing of your thread!

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Here's the thing, Stewie (and I like the idea of calling you "Stewie" ), I know there's no guarantee, and we've seen others pop their blocks at much lower power levels. I'd be PIZZZZED if mine went at 360hp, so the way I see it, if it goes at 450 or maybe even 500 (I'm thinking of going for 500 now with more air), there's nothing to be pizzed off at. Might as well go for broke!!!

Besides (and I don't think I've shared this story yet), one of my Dodge buddies had been talking a ton of smack about his CTD and how Fords suck. So, I met him at the dyno (where I put down 449/1016), and whooped that azz. He laid down 430/850. That was with his hacked Edge. So he goes & gets a Quadzilla box and has issues. Turns out Quad has an office in Ft. Worth, so I drove down & met him there while he gets the issues fixed. We get on the highway, and we proceed to light it up. I let him go ahead so I can have the satisfaction of passing him, but due to traffic, we kept it cool, but I made sure I stayed on his bumper the whole way. About 15 mins later, he tells me his truck is running like crap. We pull off and I see blue & white smoke out his exhaust. I think "uh-oh"..... Pull the oil cap and it's spitting oil all over and the cap is about blowing off the VC when I set it upside-down over the oil fill hole. OOPS!! Turns out he melted a piston and burned several valves... So now when I see him, I call my truck the "Dodge Eater". He is less than thrilled...... He just got it back today (like $7500 later) and is already talking smack about how he's gong for 600 or even 800 at the wheels. But my fun is over. I made my point....

Gotta love it!

Here's the thing, Stewie (and I like the idea of calling you "Stewie" )

I personally only use Motorcraft Gold coolant! Its a little expensive. But havent had no problems at all. And if you can't afford it, I know napa is making 1 that compares pretty well to the gold coolant!
