So, municipal elections are over. Toronto has a Ford for Mayor. Now I like the way this guy can build a truck, let's see if he can run a City the size of Toronto.

Quite a few upsets around the GTA with Oshawa and Barrie getting new mayors. Gotta love Hurricane Hazel in Mississauga, 89 years old and still going. Looks like this will be her last term as she is finally starting to show signs of slowing down.
Vaughn has a new major in place to sort out a corrupt dysfunctional council.

How did things go for the rest of you? Change seems to be the theme as folks are tired of the same old people doing things the same old way. BUT,..change is not always for the better, time will tell.

Next fall we get to kick out that liar McGuinty and see what the next guy can do to us, errr ...for us I meant to say...

Isn't there something ironic about a fat man talking about stopping the gravy train?

Lots of new mayors in this area too, for varying reasons, lots of unhappy people.

Angry I don't play this game anymore.

Politics is a losing game, we don't ever vote people in we only vote them out.
Promises are always made and seldom kept.
Taxes never go down they only go up.
There is no distinction that can be made between the three major parties Liberals NDP or PCs.
The bureaucrats run the government and the country and the only time there are changes in the law are when the mainstream media fires up the general public on some knee jerk issue like Canada pension for convicts, which only serves to fix a small but highly visible problem while other more mundane and less easily fixed problem like health care and education go unsolved.

If we are ever to have a chance at good government local and national we really need to come up with some better system than the current one.

For instance it should be mandatory for someone who is the minister of Transportation to be educated in the field he or she is running, like wise with health care and Law(that one probably isn't such a huge problem with all the lawyers in politics,LOL)

The head of the military should be a retired general, in other words the folks running the show should be experts in their chosen fields and not have to rely on expensive
bureaucrats and consultants to make million and billion dollar decisions that put our country deeper and deeper in debt.

My guess is we will not see the kind of government that I'm looking for anytime soon so in lieu of that perhaps we can demand all campaigning in the future is issue based with punitive rules in place to prevent negative candidate attacks.

Let's make it a rule that before you run as a candidate you must have a complete and comprehensive business plan listing your credentials that you swear to under oath to be true.

Sorry for the rant but you hit a nerve.

We are in a farming community, and the people that made it in aren't even interested in agriculture. We'll see how it goes

Ahhhh democrazy, what a system!
Such are the trade off's if you want a say in how things are done. If you want to accomplish something quickly a democratic society is by no means efficient but I wouldn't have it any other way.
OldJunk, not to happy with the Obama Mania turning into Obama Let Down? Real change takes time hopefully your country will survive the wait but there will be more casualties in terms of economic losses that hit home. Families will suffer.

as for our City of Toronto, Chad's right ,,,,there is something funny about a fat guy tslking about Gravy. I think the man will have a heart attack before his term is up
