O/D cancel switch

Just got y wife an 05' xlt 4.0 4x4 with 88k miles. truck was in great shape, clean, appeared new. It was a one owner car. However, the only issue is that when you depress the O/D cancel button, nothing happens, the trans does not come out of OD and the dash light does not come on. I have checked the fuse, and yes, I have tried to take it out of OD while moving!

I haven't heard about it on something as new as a 2005, but it used to be a problem for the O/D off wires to break either where the lever meets the column or in the lever itself.

Other than knowing it doesn't work like it should, is there a reason you want to be able to turn off O/D?

yeah, i have a 2000 pwrstroke that has had the OD light on for years. I have torn it apart 2x's and fixed the wire, but oh well.

no, there is no reason i have to turn the OD off on the explorer, just me being me and wanting to figure out whats wrong and fix it!

I can totally understand that. My wife doesn't understand why I want to fix things that I admittedly will never use. The thing is, if I know it isn't right, I want to fix it.

Sounds like you know what to expect regarding the wire.
