my 99 ford ranger 3.0 is suposably a flex fuel and has a sensor in the fuel line for the flex fuel , i found out to replace it, its around 600 bucks and i think thats just b.s cuz i dont need it. i was wondering if there is a way to bypass it to save some money any ideas? the code is P0176

Yeah, get a tuner and tune it out. That will cost the tuner though, but still less than the new sensor

Yes. One of the posters here put together an electronic replacement that tells the flex fuel system the percent (m)ethanol as about 10%. Search around ...
He made up a small circuit board which he connected to the FF sensor input, and it was happy. I think his fuel mileage improved, too.

Hello, yep, you can bypass it. There are two ways. First - make an ajustable 40-80 HZ generator, to imitate a type of fuel you drive. As I remeber square pulses 55-60 hz.

It is not difficult, but if you cant make it, get something like this Flex Fuel Sensor Replicator for a Ford
