noob with a clean '69

so here is my 1969 ranger. story goes like this...Original owner bought it off the lot in 1969. Died around 1974. widow held on to it for 10 years. my grandfather bought it in 1984. he drove it very seldomly until he passed away in 1999. I inherited it but didn't drive it because i was travelling in the military. so it has been sitting in storage for over 10 years.

i'll post more pictures later. this is all i have on this computer. i'm a noob to the truck world, but not forums. i shouldn't be too much of a jackass. lol

here are my first 2 questions:

1) where can i find little things to buy? i need a window crank, headlight switch, and a few other bits and pieces.

2) i need wheels and tires asap and found something interesting to throw on there. will oem wheels from a newer ford fit on my '69?

for your parts you can look in salvage yards, dennis-carpenter.com, macsautoparts.com, lmc.com, nationalpartsdepot.com, and classicautoparts.com.
for those wheels the rimes wont work as there 6 lugs and you have a 5 lug pattern.
O ya and Nice looking truck.

thank you. i'll check out the links. it needs a lot of work to get fixed up. is there anything from newer fords that will roll on there without a swap? well, obviously not interested in some mustang wheels with low profile tires.

thank you for the warm welcome.

a little more about the truck. it has an 302 swapped in with an auto tranny. i recently changed the oil and tranny fluid, new brakes, slave cylinder and water pump. it also has power steering and a few other little mods. I took the bed cover off. my grandfather was a carpenter and actually made a cover from wood and had it painted to match.

your lug pattern is 5 on 5 1/2. so any rim that has that pattern will work just make sure you look at the offset of the rim and height of the tire so you dont bind up on the fender and bend it or cut the fender down.

well, it has a valve cover leak. no biggie. headlight switch is going out. lights flicker like nobody's business. GRRRR no night time driving until i get it swapped out. and it needs new wipers.

typical stuff for a 40 year old truck.

Welcome to FTE

In 1977, Ford introduced Styled Steel and Styled Aluminum wheels for F100/150's. The same wheels were also used on 1977 E100/150's (Econolines) and 1978 Bronco's.

Ford used the same bolt pattern thru 1996 (5 lug, 5.50" bolt circle) for all these vehicles, so any of the 1977/96 styled wheels will fit...with one exception.

Some 1980/83 F100's came with 5 lug 4.50" wheels. These will not work on anything else.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you need a window crank handle, or is just the **** missing? As original, the **** did not come with the handle, it was available in different colors and sold by itself.

1968/72 F100/750's (1969/74 Econolines, 1968/77 Bronco's ) used the same window crank handle (C8AZ6223342A) as 1968/69 Galaxie/LTD/Fairlane/Torino.

The myriad different colored ***** are the same as 1968/72 Passenger Cars..except those with a clear ****.

The **** came as a kit: ****, its shaft and a sticker used to cover up the Philips head screw that attached the crank to the window regulator.

To install a new **** on the handle, put the handle into a vise, install the **** on one side, its shaft on the other...then sloooowly press the whole tamale together.

People were told this at the parts counter...some figured they could use a different method.

They installed the **** on the handle, laid it on a flat surface, then inserted the ****'s shaft into the ****...then hit it with a hammer.

They were back the very next day to buy another ****, because this method will not work. Once you hit that shaft with a hammer, it breaks the **** apart.

The repro parts sellers sell the handle only, and the colored ***** only. Just like original, not sold as an assembly.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D3ZZ11654A (replaced C5TZ11654A) .. Headlamp Switch (Motorcraft SW1245) / Available from Ford and a gazillion autoparts stores.

Fits: 1965/67 F100/600 / 1968/75 F100/350 / 1966/76 Bronco / 1965/66 Mustang / 1970/72 Maverick/Comet / 1971/72 Mustang (not 1973).

The headlamp switch does not come with the ****. The **** and shaft is a one piece assembly and came separately.
