1956 F100 - My 1st Project!

Hello Everyone,

I've just purchased my 1st project.

I'm sub-novice so I've got a lot of research and work ahead of me but I'm super excited. I've been looking around the site, thanks ahead of time for all the great info. Here are a few pics.

Chad,
Welcome to FTE. What are your plans for your new truck? (restore or custom) Either way you might want to get a manual and a mid-fifty catalog. Mid Fifty F-100 Parts - Home
Keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks. I'm not sure - I found it online with a bunch of other photos I've compiled. I'm making a list so I can try to focus my energy. I want to get the engine work done and get it running again so I can at least drive it a little before lots of body work, etc.

Good looking truck! You have got to love the '56s. Getting it drivable will make is a good way to start, a lot of people like to completely stripe it when they first get it, but the problem with doing that is you have no time enjoying the truck first, which tends to lead to burning out with the project cause it was never really enjoyed as a truck.

You may find yourself quite content with driving it as is for some time, you drive a project a whole lot different than a finished truck (not worrying about it getting dented in a parking lot or something for example)

Have fun!

Thanks. We drove by the truck a week or so ago and I told my wife said something along the lines of "that's my dream truck....someday" and she told me to get it, so I did. I can understand the burnout and also worrying about the done project. BTW, I love your F-600, it's pretty sexy!

I've got a question for you veterans. What should I do about insurance on a project car? Suggestions?

Thanks! That's very cool. I've always been really intruiged by older cars/trucks but don't know the 1st thing about them. This will force me to learn. My brother and his buddy (mechanic and body shop guy) are coming over this weekend so we can start planning. Hope I don't mess things up too bad, lol!

Insurance

I have mine on the policy with my other truck. Right now it's a comprehensive storage policy. Fire and theft until I get it running again.

HAHA! Thanks. I hope I have as much success as you have faith. I know next to nothing about this sort of stuff. This is my incentive to learn!
