Brought home a 54 f100 this weekend

Made the long trip from Newton, IA to Mcpherson, KS to pick up a truck that i won on ebay. Got to talking to the guy and found out that it was missing a few more parts then what he said. The missing fuel tank is not that big of a deal probably needed a new one any way. Was missing the windows err. I will get some pics of the truck as the work goes along.
I will have some factory parts to get rid of as the build goes along. I am planning on changeing out the factory motor tranny and rear end for some bigger parts. The factory 239 is a little small a 460 will make the engine compartment look better. Going to be putting in a c6 and a 9 inch rear end. Will also be going to a mustang 2 front suspension and four link in the rear with a set of 31x18.5x15 in the back

Now that sounds like a plan!

BTW, just curious, does Maytag still build stuff in Newton, IA?

Not since they got bought. They closed up shop a few years ago. They were building wind turbines (not sure which part, maybe the blades?) but I think all of that is moving out to sioux city. They are going to, or are building some electric cars/trucks out there.

Newton now has a speedway though. They have had one NASCAR, one NASCAR Truck series and one Indy Car race each year since the place was built. NASCAR is going to put Newton on the schedule for more races next year. A lot of car shows/cruises out there now, HotRod Power tour started there this year.

Good luck. Like to see some pics. One tip, look at moving the gas tank out back and going with a poly, alum, or a stainless tank. A little pricey but will save you tons of headaches, trust me. I am the contaminated fuel pump king. Trying to save a few bucks ended up costing me tons.

Well got to doing some checking and found out that the motor is not the original engine. It is not suck but i am still going to put in the 460. The numbers on the block wre ebu6015f. I have been able to get everything off of the frame, except the clutch linkage once i get that off then it is going to be time to sandblast the frame and start installing the front and rear suspension.

Started sand Blasting the frame last night. It was in good shape other then the custom front motor mount that a previous owner had welded in. Also found one rust hole were the right rear leaf spring mounted, so I will have to fix that on my next days off.

Odd. I have a 54 F-250 that I am doing a Frame off on. I have the same numbers on my engine. Any Idea what size it is? I'm trying to determing what rebuild kit to order.
