Can't find a muffler

I am needing a new muffler for my 03 F350 SRW CC SB 5.4 and I was going to put on a Flowmaster, Gibson or Magnaflow on it. While searching their sites and all the other store sites, no body has a muffler that they say will fit my truck. What should I be searching these sites for?

I have been searching here at all the threads on exhaust and decided that I am just going to do a muffler only and not a full catback system. Mainly because of the available funds. I have always liked the Gibson sound better, at least the sound clips online are better. But I have been reading about Magnaflow having a better sound. I want a deep not real loud rumble. I read a lot about the FM being too loud at highway speeds and I really don't want that either so I am leaning more towards the other two.

Just take your truck down to a local independent muffler shop and tell them what you want. Anyone who says they don't have a muffler that fits your truck just doesn't want to do any fabricating.

You should replace your Y-pipe also, as the 2V engines came with very restrictive Y-pipes.

Yes, find a place that does custom exhaust work. Someplace like Pep Boys will only order parts out of a catalog and bolt them on.

And yes, I had a bad experience with Pep Boys.

Yeah, You wont find an aftermarket muffler that fits OEM.

I bought a Magnaflow p/n-12578
MagnaFlow Exhaust Products - For Trucks, Suv's, American Muscle, Diesel, & Sport Compact Vehicles

You can find for about $130. Take to your muffler shop and they will cut out the old and put in the new. Cost me $60 to install.

Sounds good but no drone and isn't too loud.

Don't expect any real performance gain. You may gain abit with the y pipe swap but IMO gas mileage goes down because your foots in it more.

Thanks. I found some FlowMasters that are called out for my truck, but I don't think thats what I want anyway.

I know all about the mileage drop. Is the Y-pipe an over the counter replacement option or is that a custom build deal.

It can be either. You need to know what size pipe diameter you have and we can help you from there.

Check out Dana at American Muffler on Farmington Rd. east side of the tracks. He's done work for me and not expensive. Not trying to through work his way but he's close and can get parts. I have a Magnaflow on a V10. Not loud, no drone, can have a conversation in cab, sounds good.

I agree, Cherry bombs sound great on just about anything. The longer they are. the more smooth the sound. Shorter ones are too raspy. something in the 30in range would work well for the 5.4

Well, I may have to look into that. I guess for a budget fix, that would be the way to go.

Ya, at about $20 bucks, it's about the cheapest mod you can make.
