Suggestions on sequence of mods

I have read a lot on FTE about all the possible 7.3 mods and their results. Would like some suggestions on which ones can be completed over a long period of time. My finance planner (wife) will not allow a large amount to be spent on my "old" truck at one time. So what mod should i perform that will not effect something else going wrong until the next mod is completed?

I have owned my 2001 F250 CC auto, single 2 wheel drive for about six months. The mileage then was 184,000 and now I have 200,000 trouble free miles. She all appears to be still stock except the cat and muffler have already been removed. This will be my first up grade, for a 4" MBRP exhaust system. What do you suggest next/or with this?

Intake would be a good next investment, followed by maybe an FRx and HPX and in-tank mods(Hutch and Harpoon).

Guages would definately be my next choice. That way when you start the performance mods you can keep and eye on things, most start out with exhaust(pyro),boost, and trans temp.

Thanks! I was thinking about installing gauges and performing the in tank mods next. Both of these would kinda go along with the exhaust system replacement since I will be under the truck anyway.

On the fuel tank mods.....has anyone ever lifted the bed off for access instead of dropping the fuel tank from underneath?

Cliff, you are a great benefit to FTE. I will be calling soon.

Cliff?? I think you mean Clay, but I like Cliff, goes with his business name!

I've heard of people pulling their beds, if you can get the bolts out. Said it's easier than dropping the tank.

The bed bolts can be a problem... mine were tough but doable. Soak with PB blaster or similar the day before. Do yourself a favor and get quality tools; I broke 2 Torx bits and an impact driver from Autozone, then woze up and got Craftsman. And one bolt simply would not budge; I ended up chopping up the head like a pizza with a metal cutting disc on my circular saw. Local Ford dealer had a hard time looking up a replacement bolt, they are not all the same, so know the location of the bolt you need. And once you see the bolt you will know why they are so tough to remove! The cage nuts have no threads, the bolt cuts them as you install. There are good write ups out there for the bed lift. Once it is up, the Hutch and Harpoon mods are cake. Working alone and carefully I took two days. Otherwise the Hutch/Harpoon are cheap mods with results you can hear, pretty rewarding. The gauges should happen same time as the tuner, IMHO, making that a pricey weekend.
