It's like Christmas! (Tuner installed Pics)

I was at my wife's grandmother's house in Ocean City, NJ until yesterday afternoon. Yesterday morning the BlackBerry ring with an email saying that the tuner was delivered.......I could get home fast enough!

Came home, pulled the PCM and dash and went to work. Took about an hour from start to finish. Only problem encountered was my 8 year daughter wanted to help so I said sure. She was great and we were outside test drilling some hole in a sheet of plywood to see which one the gauge would fit in.

2" was too small and 2 1/8" was too big. We decided on 2" and a file to make the fit. Got talkin about kids stuff and before you know it I forgot to change the hole saw back to 2".........ooopppssss!!!! Now I have a hole too big for the gauge, she thought it was her fault and I told her totally my fault. We hoped in Mom's car to the auto parts store to look for a solution.....

Wound up asking for an o-ring that fit the gauge. I think it came out ok. Had to silicon the gauge in the dash from behind, but all in all a good install. And my little halper got some ice cream at the stand that happens to be next to the parts store.

I even broke out the plastic cleaner and worked a little magic on the cluster display, look at the difference, I split it right between the Tach and Speedo. That stuff worked great!

DP tuner great. Putting in the truck with your daughters help. Priceless. Even if you put a million miles on that truck. You will remember the time spent with her longer than the truck. Good job. Oh, the DP looks good too.

Thanks everybody!!

To answer a few questions I got the following tunes:
0-No Start
1-Stock
2-80 Ecno
3-Decel
4-80 Towing
5-100 HP
6-120 HP

The plastic cleaner is Mequiars #17 plastic cleaner. You may have to get it from a boat store, haven't seen it in too many auto stores around.

As for the Tuner, Holly Molly!!! I had the Diablo Predator, and don't get me wrong, I liked it, however there was certain programs that felt little over stock except when you put in the 100 HP tune. The DP Tuner feels soo much different right from the start. I've been running the 80 Ecno tune mostly, but you know, kid in the candy store, I've been playing with them all. I can't even tell you how nice the Decel Tune is when pulling something, or making your neighbors with bowties turn their heads when you let off the throttle and go to it. The 120 Tune is a bit much for the truck right now, still stock for the most part except mods in signature, but a least there is one tune on there already for when bigger changes come. The ability to change between al of them on any given moment is a huge plus also.

Don't know what to do next or where to start turbo housing upgrade, HPOP, Tranny upgrades.....

I got to tell you for an eight year old truck with 140000 miles on it, it still makes me smile when I see it and drive it. Still on cloud nine even with the slightly enlarged misdrilled hole!!!!

I'd like to give a big thanks to James from DP too, I called him a few times before I ordered it to discuss some things. He was MORE than helpful! Thanks James!!
And if not for this site I wouldn't have even known about DP

Mike
