Fuel Tank Interchange Diesel vs Gas

years ago I removed the front fuel tank from a 1996 F350 powerstroke diesel. its a nice plastic tank.

will this tank work in my 1996 F350 with 351 gas motor that currently has a metal tank?

i need to pull the diesel tank out of the bowels of my basement to compare, but before doing that, i figured i'd ask here.

even if dimensionally the tanks are the same, will the fuel lines and electric plugs be the same? is the in tank fuel pump the same between the 2 motors? if not, can the pump from the gas tank be put into the diesel tank?

anybody out there ever try this?

thanks - i'll dig it out and see how it compares.

funny thing is, the 1996 diesel had a front plastic tank, but a rear metal tank. i wonder why that is? any thoughts?
