You can run a high hp tune but like others have said you just have to keep a closer on on your EGT's and your boost. The reason someone would cause damage on a high hp tune is because they are using too much of the power. Just because you can get a 15k trailer going much faster with 275hp tune than with a 120hp tune doesn't mean you should. Spartan also released a 210hp towing tune that is great! Real good power, great shifting, and a quick TC lockup. I do not have any MPG reports with it though.

Hey Tex, what tune are you running? You using that 210 towing tune? Have you used any other tunes while pulling? How is she shifting? Has it banged into any gears or felt like it was stuck in between gears?
Hope you were able to get your fuel sorted out. Drop those fuel filters ASAP. You should (if you don't already) always carry with you a spare set of filters.

hey lax like sam mentioned im using a sct livewire and not the spartan.....im using the preformance tune which i think adds about 80hp not real sure though....no banging or stuck gears....just fuel savings. i figured out the problem with the fuel filters and it was the water seperator sensor....once i replaced that its been running awesome!

It's amazing how much a mile or 2 mpg improvement will save you in fuel costs. For someone that drives for a living as an owner/operator, that's a pay raise!!! Congrats.

Did you make your own DOC/DPF delete pipe or buy it? What kind of muffler is on it?

Anybody know what kind of MPG I could expect with a F350 SRW 4x4? I get about 16 right now mixed city/hwy. Hand calculated... Wonder if I could knock down 19-20?

There's one guy on here claims 20+. Nobody believes him though. 20s hard to do in these heavy trucks and a 4x4 makes it even harder. I couldn't get 20 in my 7.3L and that was an extended cab short bed. Soo, in a couple words "probably not".

I could get 20 in my 7.3 if I tried. New Orleans to Jax, FL on one tank baby!

My dad does it in his 7.3 Excursion too. He drives it like there's eggs under the pedals though....

With this engine being smaller in displacement than a 7.3 it would make sense to get less MPG... Peak torque is at a higher RPM, etc...
