Finally Got The Cruise Control Recall Done

I didn't see Grant's TDPOWER thread sticky up top so just I'm just posting up my experience at New Holland Ford here in New Holland. Set up my appointment, took it in yesterday morning, told the service guy I don't want no updates or hookup of the computer to my truck, nada, told the guy performing the job, "Don't do it, please" I told them honestly I have a chip and you will destroy my truck if this reflash proceedure happens, they said no problem, were not even going there. They pulled the truck out and on my way I went. In all honestly, this is a customer first place. I bought parts from them for my wifes vehiche and they hooked me up. All in all, it was a good day.

Good to hear Jim, their far and in between but their there, I still won't take my truck in for substancial repairs though, lol.. My wifes truck is next so it should go smooth, its stock. I'll snap a pic when I go out later, pretty long pigtail with fuse. Looks a bit longer than the ones I remember from Grant's thread pics. We'll see...

The local one here told me that it was mandated that he update the PCM!!!! To which I replied "When you do and the truck will not run who is paying for it the new tuner?" Needless to say the CPS has not been done nor the CC recall.

my mechanic replaced the sensor not just added the inline fuse
i told him "the sensor is leaking, got me!?!" because i read here if the sensor leaks then they have to replace it because the sensor is the real issue

When they did my CC recall there was no mention of a PCM reflash. Took longer to raise the hood than to do the actual mod.

I know when I owned a Honda with Hondata ECM mod, there was a way to prevent the dealer from reflashing back to stock. It involved removing one of the pins from the OBDII port's rear side. Folding it back and taping it back to the harness. This allowed full functionality of the port, it just would not allow flashing. Maybe this is something Ford owners could look into.

Interesting Jim, doesn't suprise me only the fact they came right out and told yaa instead of doing it on their own and you finding out later. There is another dealer up here when I took my truck in for the CPS recall, I had the SC handheld tuner, I told them don't reflash and I'm almost positive they reflashed, some things weren't right after that, remote start and a few other things acted funny. I did put it back to stock though.

Sweet Mike! Always nice when you can find a decent service dept at a dealer. I was pleasantly surprised with mine when I had mine done. I won't take my truck there, but in the future I'd take the wife's Exploder there if needed.
