How to get more mileage out of my 7.3

Got a PHP that i leave on 140 because thats where it gets best mileage. 4" exhaust and a spectre filter. I have 35" tires now but thinking bout going to 33" to help while towing. I'm driving back and forth to work which is 120 miles round trip and want ways to get better mileage. If i'm careful and drive 60 I can get 18. I hear alot higher numbers. How much does Propane help? I'm not opposed to spending a money. Checked into a gear vendor overdrive but don't want to spend 3000! any help appreciated thanks

I wish you luck, like you , I always hear a lot higher numbers, but here on this forum it is only a few that achieve it.

May I ask what other PHP tunes you may have? I run with a DP, and have used the 80e for city driving, it has been suggested teh 60e would be best on the highway.

When were your tunes done? There may be tune improvements, you might just have to call and send it back in.

I am sure you have looked for boost leaks, up pipe leaks, have you cleaned you EBPS tube and sensor, Fuel filter and oil changes help.
Otherwise, Good Luck

When searching for advice in these areas it is best to know what and where you drive for an easier comparision. Because a guy with a 2wd extra cab short bed may get 22 mpg if he lives in the flat lands and isn't lifted or larger than stock tires. On the other side of it, someone in mountians that has a crew cab long box, 6" lift and 37's may only get 16 mpg at the best. I would also caution against running a high horspower tune like 140 since it may wash down your cyclinder walls/wet stacking, and I would consult your tuner.

Why not just do like a 50 gallon veggie oil tank? I see everyone tries to get in the high 10's with their diesels but Im quite happy with my 15mpg. My explorer I just sold got 15mpg and it was worthless at towing. I know I'm off topic but for me I just went with veggie oil instead of trying ot achieve higher mpg's since wvo is free for me.

if your getting 18 mpg with 35" tires i would be very pleased. what mph are you running and at what rpm range? i dont think an overdrive unit would help you unless you have changed the gearing in your axles. from what i have seen to get the best mileage you want to be around 65mph 1800rpm. with 35"
