4.9 part ID

I'm working on a 1981 F-150 w/ 4.9. What is that odd-looking part under the carb? It's like a spacer between the carb and intake manifold.

Most likely, the EGR adapter.

EGR, of course! There is no EGR valve on this one; it's just blocked off. I had looked in an online service manual under carb, intake, etc., but hadn't thought to look under emissions. Thanks.
