Blazer .45ACP ammo advice.

There's just 'something' about that short, fat cartridge!!!
(Don't misunderstand. I've got a couple 9x19mm pistols, and a .40 S&W, too!)

I have not had a heck of a lot of luck with .45acp 1911s........lots of failure to feed/eject probs. (mostly because mine were worn out junk, not $1,000 Kimbers or NMs)
I did have a SS Smith and Wesson 645 .45acp, it was fantastic!.....a little on the big side and heavy, but accurate and went BANG every time you pulled the trigger, just like my 9mms.

I know what you mean, Dave.
Those old 1911 and 1911A1 pistols (especially the GI pistols and others like 'em) didn't have a 'throated' barrel. The were designed for FMJ "Ball".
Most of those old barrels had a chamber mouth shaped like a "U" and would feed 'Ball' ammo all day long, but, when you tried to feed a JHP or a SWC profiled cartridge, it would jam like crazy. Been there. Done that.
The 1911 platform really needs a throated barrel, where the chamber mouth looks like a "C" on it's back.
Then, they will feed anything thrown at 'em!
That, plus the fact that some 1911's feedramp looks like it was finished with a rasp instead of being smooth.

I've got (at the moment) 3 .45 acp pistols, and all this talk about it has me looking at either another Colt Combat Commander, or possibly a S&W M&P .45.

As someone else noted, the only issues I've had with Blazer is it's a dirty ammo. Always clean my pistols after range day, usually after putting 1000 rounds down range in my Kimber .45, Glock 19 and Glock 21SF, if using blazer, it's always a whole lot dirtier. Just make sure you clean them really well afterwards, as you should after any range trip.
