Happy XL 4.6

With a limited budget I found I had to settle for a nice low mileage XL. I found this 04 with just under 11K on the odometer. But just because we are stuck with a limited budget doesnt mean we cant spend a little more over time and make it a very presentable truck rather than look like a common work truck. I found most of this stuff on Ebay and all told I have about 1100.00 in addon stuff.
1. Brand new take off Lariat wheels and BFG tires.
2. Take off 5 inch chrome step bars
3. Take off Lariat wheel lip mouldings color matched
4. Brand new chrome grille insert.
5. AM/FM/CD/MP3 cd player (not shown)
6. Factory take out woofer module under rear seat (not shown)
This vehicle came with the vinyl seats which are so well done they look like leather and that is very acceptable to me. It also came with chrome front and rear bumpers and grille surround so it made spiffing it up easier and less expensive.
I think all around the upgrades make for a very pleasing look to an otherwise plain jane vehicle and I didnt have to get stuff I really didnt need nor could afford.

First two pics are before the upgrades and last two are after.

That is a GOOOOD LOOOOOKING TRUCK!!!!! If you hadn't posted that it was an '04 I would have thought it was new. You found a good one there. Evidently the person who had it must have taken good care of it. Congratulations!!!!

great job...truck looks great

you could slap a Lariat badge on the fender, and most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference from outside. So when you going to tint those windows to complete the look?

Thanks all!

Yes I felt very fortunate to find one that age with that care and low miles. I hope to keep it that way for a long while.

Tylus that tint idea is in the mix already as well as maybe some other things down the road.

Wow!

What a transformation, and you did it for such a reasonable cost to boot. The truck looks fantastic.

The grille was the easiest part for me. It had the chrome surround already. That insert was only 69.99 plus shipping. They have the complete assy with chrome surround for about 130.00. Not bad for as much effect it has on the overall look IMHO.

Thanks everyone, and I am indeed proud of the overall finished product.

Red Star I looked at your F150 in your Gallery and it is a sharp looking truck. I like that all black sport truck look. If you want to spiff it up all you have to do is scour Ebay, craigslist, local papers and you would be amazed at what others cast off thier trucks for something else. You can often aquire them for a fraction of retail. That is the whole point of this thread, to show folks that have an XL that you arent that far away from the top. Its still the same basic truck as the top of the line.
