1960 assembly, paint, plate, or bare

I'm in the process of performing a concourse restoration on my 1960 F-100. During initial assembly, it appears Ford painted the frame black, installed some of the suspension components, fuel/brake lines, etc. then painted the frame again, over-spraying these components. Does anyone know the correct finish for the following parts?

- Front spring U-bolts and hardware
- Rear spring U-bolts and hardware
- Rear U-bolt axle clamps/shock mount (the cast part the ends of the U-bolt pass through)
- Front shackles
- Rear shackles
- Axle bumper bolts/nuts (not sure if these were installed prior to 2nd paint)

Wow that's awesome, my '56 doesn't seem to have any factory paint on the frame.....can't believe Ford would ever do that, at least not standard.

Mine still had a lot of original paint left on the frame, springs, and fuel/brake lines (145,000 original miles), but some areas such as those listed above had so much dirt/grease/rust it's impossible to tell what the original finish was.

Transam-one guy who may know some of this stuff is Mr4speedford.You could also try Walston, and especially NumberDummy(Bill). ND most often is on the 61-66 and 67-72 forums. If I understand correctly,Mr4speed has one vehicle on which he puts nothing but NOS or refurbished genuine Ford parts. He'll likely be able to give you some input.Steve.
