currently i am planning my 460 build with pi heads. c6 trans and 3.25 9" rearend. my question is what can i expect in the way of traction with 400 hp and 500 ft lbs torque? not much i would expect in a 66 f100 fleetside. what can i do to help traction and where can i study this some. my shop building is going up so my truck has a home and the engine is at the machinist. itll be a few months before i finish the install i figure. any help would be appreciated! i know someone has done this before! thanks for your input in advance as there is usually a wealth of knowledge on here!
Cal trax, slide a links, ladder bars, 4 link but it dosent mater what you do under neath the rear end because you would need slicks to hookup at all. Try a 10" cheater slick and take your pick of traction control.
Are you going to race your truck? I'm running a big HP 460 in my truck c6, narrowed 9in 373 gear, 31x18.50 rears. I drive my truck on the street, it does not hook-up that great, but it is fun to light them up out on the street. check out my profile to see my truck. Whatever you do, dont ease up on the HP ! its fun.
i may take it to the track a time or 2 to see what it does but no im not going to race it. thats why i chose 3.25 rears. it will be a street rod and i drive it occasionally to the show in town or a poker game. its a long way from being finished but it looks ok for now. i want the retrofits done before i restore it. the cal tracs look reasonable il call and see if they make them for my app. i dont want to narrow the rear end i would rather have than handling capability. i plan on installing sway bars front and maybe rear
