I bought a '89 F 150 4X4 with 3.5" lift and 35/12.5/15 Nokian rubber.
When turning sharp, the tires rub on the radius arms. I was thinking about wheel spacers to bring the tire out some.....has anyone used this fix??
are there any pros and cons??
it will work, but it will also become a weak point. Like stated above, it will move the center out, causing strain and pressure on the wheel bearings, as well as the hub itself...it will be the cause of many headaches for you in the future.
so...guess my best bet is a wheel with less offset.....too bad, my stock wheels are still in good shape....
No, this will cause the same issues - whether you use a wheel with less backspacing, or factory wheels but with spacers between them and the hub, the end result is the same - the center line of the wheel is moved more outwards, thus loading the outer hub bearing more.
What should work rather nice for you, as already posted, are new "bent" radius arms - with a lift you want the extended ones anyways but now they have them where they are not going from the axle straigh back but instead bend a bit inwards first to adress exactly the ussue of larger tires rubbing at full lock... That, or learn not to turn as sharp, basically treat the truck as if it were a crew-cab dually.
