Need advice on what new Ford truck to buy?
I'm planning on buying a new F-150 and I'm all hyped that Ford has released the new engine line-up for 2011. However I am sitting on a different fence then alot of people. Alot of the thread's I have been reading are people that can't seem to decide if they want to go ahead and get a 2010 F-150 with the old tech 5.4L V8 simply because they are offering incredible discounts on the 2010 models right now. Or if they want a 2011 with the new more powerful more efficient engine lineup.
In that aspect its clear as day for me...2011 with a new engine. I won't be buying a new truck for probably 8 month to year. But the issue I am having is this. I'm not big on the idea of eaither V6...3.7 or 3.5EB. Both of which sound very promising, But I'm more of a traditional type of guy when it come's to full size trucks. So my choice is between the new 5.0L or 6.2L V8. Preferably I would like to have the 6.2L but I am disappointed to learn, That the cheapest model (According to Pickuptrucks.com) it will be available in will be the Lariat with the max trailer tow package. I preferably don't want to get something that cost more than 40K I would like to keep my price right about 35 grand. So I'm talking a base XLT or Maybe an FX4 (Without alot of extra options) Fuel economy is not my biggest concern, As I am pretty convinced that both 5.0L and 6.2L will get superior MPG to the old 5.4L
Its really down to engines. The two trucks that are most of what I want are as follows.
2011 FX4 F-150 Ext Cab 6-1/2 foot bed 5.0L V8
And...
2011 F-150 Lariat Ext Cab 6-1/2 foot bed 4X4 6.2L V8
I apologize for this thread being so long but I would really appreciate everyone's input on this.
Thanks for any help.

My dad is looking to buy his first new truck ever. He bought his 1994 F-250 with pretty low mileage back in 1995 or 1996, but now he has started considering a new truck. Because of this, I have been keeping a pretty close eye on the 2011 F-Series. As Tim said, until Ford releases the 2011 F-150 Order Guide, most of what we have been talking about really does not amount to much more than rumor mongering. Granted, some of the information has been released by Ford to the press, but there are generally changes by the time these hit the production line.

Seems to me, you have this thing all sorted out and are down to just what size engine you want in the truck being you are not going to spend over 35K and are waiting 8 months to a year. You might be getting a big discount at the end of the 2011 year. IMO, unless one is towing, no need to spend the xtra money on the 6.2; other than that, I think you got it pretty much figured out.
