Economy in Northern AZ

How are things doing in the Flagstaff area? The area I'm in now tends to lag behind, so now it's tanking pretty bad so I'm looking to bail.
I'm a welder and mechanic by trade, is there any demand there for this sort of skill set?

I was talking to a guy a few days ago and he said he is paying $10.00 an hour for welders. there are so many out of work that they will work for anything. as for mechanics, my garage has only had 3 paying jobs this week.
I am in Chino Valley, about 90 miles from Flag.
Flagstaff is a college town/tourist town very expensive to live there.

We have picked up a good bit of work at NAU. All our HVAC steam and hydronic pipe there is welded and stamp as they do not allow Victaulic. Average pay is around 15 to 20and if it is prevailing around $42.00

There is a really large school project starting in Tuba City. Othere wise it is kind of slow unless it is directly related to sitmilus and obama bucks.

I think we are still hiring in that area for projects. Midstate Mechanical, Inc.

It never hurts to have a resume on hand.
