I am planning on doing a EGR delete and a bunch of other mod's this fall, when the weather cools off some. Right now I just want to keep the CEL turned off.

Shouldn't take THAT long...disconnect batteries, turn on headlight switch, count to 10, shut off lightswitch. Replace batt cables.

well since your going to do the delete anyway order the sct now since youll need it after the delete anyway and clear your code in seconds untill you get it fixed up

the bad thing about the batt trick is your truck goes into relearn when you do that and they tend to drive funny for a while

I haven't noticed any difference in the driving after reconnecting the batteries.

Thanks BPofMD for the headlight tip, will try that the next time. I hope I don't have too.

I have just started to read up on the SCT's and the Edge CST Insight. I have a lot of learning to do. This is the first vehicle that I have had in a long time that I wanted to work on and hop up.

Went out tonight and the CEL came back on. Haven't had the code checked yet. My money on P0401. I will get the code check tomorrow to make sure.

Got the code checked today and it is P0401 again. HELP!!!

I know that my Excursion has had a on going coking problem. If the intake is all sooted up, what does the exhaust side look like? I ordered a cat delete pipe last week and it came on Saturday. I held off on putting it on to see if the CEL would come back. The CEL came back and the pipe went on. The delete pipe went on nice and easy. The cat is all sooted up. I can barely see through it. I have never looked in to a new cat to know what the difference is. WOW there is a difference in driving it. The pedel response is quicker and I can hear the turbo whine now. BIG SMILE. Maybe this will keep the CEL off???

odds are it wont. the p0401 and the CA emmissions is a pita. You may want to try the reflash and see if that helps.

also like I said check the cac boots not just the clamps. you need to look at the bottom side that you cant see. you can use a mirrior.

What makes the CA emmissions different from not CA emmissions? Can the CA emissions be deleted?

the CA pack is very different and has tighter tolerances.
yes it is possible to go away with it, good luck finding someone that will do it. its a 25k fine if you get busted.

I still a little new to all of this. "CA pack" I am guessing it is in the programing in the PCM?

25k fine, Even if I am in New Jersey?
