Please Help, brother's shifter stuck ('67 F250 automatic)
<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1 itxtvisited="1"><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->My brother's shift selector doesn't display what gear...he seems to have to "push up" to get it to start. Can't seem to find any of the gears but 2nd, and doesn't want to drive to my house with out it shifting. He's now stuck at the ferry ready to load!

Any clue what causes these issues? He has a '67 <NOBR id=itxt_nobr_3_0 style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold; COLOR: darkblue; FONT-FAMILY: inherit">F250</NOBR> with a 390, and not sure if C4 or C6.

 

tell him to crawl under and look at the gear selector lever on the tranny and see if it's moving, so he can narrow the problem down to internal tranny issues or external linkage issues.

i had a 78 chevy 3 on the tree that would shift both cams down on the column and would be stuck in 2nd, if i'd get out and flick noth selector lobes up and the bottom of the column it'd fix it. don't know if fords do the sme thing.
