I have a 93' Ford Bronco 5.8L XLT model..

I have this little thing under the hood on the passenger side.. it blows exhaust out of it.. what is it?? and should their be a connection going somewhere??

 

It is a muffler for the air pump system. When the computer decides that additional air is not needed to be pumped into the cylinder head's exhaust passages, nor to the catalytic converters, it is then dumped to the atmosphere through this port (the air pump, being belt-driven, runs all the time).

Nothing connects to it.

 

I had the same question a year ago when I got my 93 Eddie Bauer with 5.8L engine.

You must have the Optional party package. You can slip Balloons over that nozzle and the truck inflates them. No more blowing up balloons by mouth.
