MAF swap ?'s...sorry i know its getting old to see
OK well i searched the fourm and didnt find what i was looking for..
can someone post a link or what all i will need to do a MAF swap?
I know the masters of this art are getting tired of telling people over and over and over about this but i want to make my truck the best it can be... and MAP just aint doin it.
Would it be better if i fould an old foxbody, or late model truck wiring harness, intake and all? i really just need a parts list and a round about price for all of it if i can get a parts list i can figure out the price.
please and thank you for the help as im a at MAF swap

If Your wanting to make your truck the best it can be i would take the map and maf or what ever and place it in the nearest waste container. Then get you a holley 4160 on top of the motor.
But really you need the harness from a maf and the compter, the MAF sensor, the intake tube. And a good day to take your time and do it right. Other guys on here know more about it then i do so wait for one of them to answer but i think i got it right.

It may not gain you much MPG wise, but itll run a TON better, better throttle response and it will allow for more mods down the road with less hassle! Get an A9L computer from a Fox mustang and the MAF to match, get a wiring harness and then have a little fun. You wont regret it. PO did the swap on my 88 and it is amazing how nice it runs now. I swapped it on an 84 SVO and it wasnt so bad. Dont get discouraged, do a little searching on here and Google and you will find all the info you need to do it right! Good luck!!!

My HCI 393 will be runnin nothin more than a lightning meter, 42lb injectors and a Cobra ECU with an SCT chip. My HCI 302 ran on the stock computer, stock MAF, stock 19lb injectors and LOVED it. It was a little lean but after the tune I actually lost a little power but it was alot safer. You can build a hot little small block using the stock Ford stuff, but SD doesnt adapt well making the MAF swap a great idea, whether your future mods are mild or wild!

well one day down the road (like when im out of school and have my own shop opened up) i want to throw in a supercarger and a completely built 347 stroker and right now i just want a little better MPG even a mile will help, but for now its just mild upgrades like so far my exaust then im thinking of doing the top end and eventually rebuilding the whole thing.

I'm with itsasix.
A MAF conversion won't give you a lot of power but it'll make it run much, much better. Better throttle response, idle and even a mpg or 2.
Most noticeable power gains for me so far, have been the MSD coil and long tube headers. Trying to keep it to bolt-ons for now. I'm also using a MSD 6A which smoothes out the idle even more. It didn't work at all with the SD FI setup though.
I've never been a big fan of underdrive pulleys. There are a lot of dissenting opinions and caveats about them so I'm leaning toward the safe side. On the other hand electric fans are pretty good idea, if anything to reduce the fan noise under the hood. Then there are throttle body spacers which most consider a waste of money, at least in this application.

I ran underdrive pulleys on the HCI 302 and found em pretty worthless...but on a mildly modded bolt on 302 it seemed like they picked up a bit. Try em, if they work and you like em then cool, if not, scrap em and move on! E fan is another GREAT idea that can free up some power, efficiency and can be cheap and easy to do! Start small and work your way up and most important, have fun while you do it!
