moving to columbus from central pa

hey guys this summer i'm moving to columbus so my wife can attend OSU Veterinarian school and after driving to the city yesterday to look at some places to rent it doesn't look very good ( we looked at some places that were pretty rough... not knowing the area)

so if any one in columbus can point me in a good area to look for a place to rent and anything else that might be help full for moving to the area would be greatly appreciated

WELCOME to the Ohio forum. Look around I'm sure you can find something. I wish I could help but I'm not familiar with Columbus.

If you get plates in Ohio yes there is a front plate and the cost is about $80.ish Its been a while since I bought truck plates. Also we don't have inspections like P.A. But we do have E-check if you live in a certain County.I don't think Columbus has it I guess they don't pollute compared to Cleveland. Even if you do E-check as long as your c.e.l. is not on you pass.

Not the most familiar with Columbus but New Albany would get my vote. Very nice area.

New Albany is great if you have the money to live there. Probably the most expensive area I know around Columbus.

If you get out of the city into one of the suburbs, such as Grove City, Pickerington, Hilliard, Westerville, Reynoldsburg, or Pickerington you shouldn't have a hard time finding a place.

I live in a duplex in Grove City for the moment, and I pay $655/month. That's for a 3-bedroom, 1,000 sq ft place with an attached garage. In the year I've been living here I've never had any trouble.

And I'm moving out! I just got an AGR assignment with the Army Reserve, and I'll be moving to Wisconsin. I'm up in Wisconsin now looking for a house. If you're interested in something like where I'm currently at let me know, the LL is a great guy who hasn't come around since we signed the lease a year ago.

If you are intent upon living inside the beltway then you pretty much either have to live in danger or pay big bucks. Personally I would consider living a little ways out on the side of the City closest to where you want to be most of the time. My wife's sister lives out on 16 near Granville. It's pretty decent there. Most of the out side area is partially agricultural and a lot safer than the inner city. I wouldn't sleep nights with that sweet truck of yours tempting the druggies and gang bangers.

Later Man...

I lived in apts all over town while I was going to school... I dont really think I could reccomend any of them though so prolly not much help to ya! Lived for a while in the really rough section of town called the bottoms - stay away from there! (around Mt Carmel West hospital). We ended up buying a house in Gahanna that was a good area that was still one of the cheaper to live places without taxes through the roof, but not sure about apts around there. Not being much of a city person I am much happier out of town but now have almost an hour drive to work. Oh well just more time to enjoy driving my truck!
