New coolant turned to jelly?
I was topping up the overflow tank in my van today from a bottle of pre-mixed coolant I bought about 9 months ago. When I got down to the last few ounces in the jug, out plopped what looked like a blob of jelly. I stopped pouring & looked in the jug & there was probably 5-6 oz of snot in the bottom. Still clean & green, but it looked somewhat hazy. I'm not sure whether the additives (corrosion inhibiters & leak stoppers) settled out or if a new life form was growing in the bottom of the jug.
I tried to fish the blob out of the filler neck but it disintegrated as soon as I touched it.
I don't typically buy pre-mixed coolant, but I bought this jug (Wal-Mart store brand) on a road trip last fall. I checked the label & it didn't say anything about shaking before using or anything about possible settling. And I can't recall EVER having seen a coolant bottle with shaking/settling info.
Anybody else ever see this? Is the snot the additives that I need in the engine?

Not sure about the jelly; doesn't sound right though. Hope it doesn't do that in the radiator.
I used to use coolant additives that are supposed to prevent corrosion and lubricate the pump. I found that if I leave the stuff in for w while but not run the engine long enough to get hot and "activate" it, it will form snot as well. It's usually in the form of a layer of scum on top of the coolant; I've never seen jelly forming.
