Trans Control Switch - '94 F-150 4.9

I used a code reader to dignose my truck, and received the following feedback:

"632 Trans Control Switch circuit did not change states during KOER"

Is the trans control switch the item on the transmission near the shifter cable attachment point?

Thanks

What trans do you have??? AOD, E4OD, Manual????? With the code-readers if it has the E4OD (electrnic over driver auto with button on end of shifter handle) then you need to cycle that switch as part of that test.

The truck has the "big" auto trans; long rectangular pan about 3" deep, and it does have the OD button on the end of the gear selector.

The code reader I used didn't specify cycling the OD switch during the test. It instructed to turn the steering wheel, shift from "P" to "D", depress and release the brake pedal, but nothing about the OD switch.

The root problem is that the trans somtimes engages harshly when shifting from "P" to "R", and also shifts very hard from 1 to 2 when accelerating slowly (as in rush hour traffic).

Not a huge issue, more of an annoyance. However, if I can correct it by replacing a switch or module, I'll do so.

Thanks

I have a similar prob in my 92 1/2 ton van, and the code reader I have tells you in fine print. to cycle that switch IF equipped.
