All joking aside, what happened?
The starter took a dive. No warning or anything, it just decided it didn't want to live anymore. I replaced it last year with an OEM one as well.

Huh, there are certain people that swear by OEM...

But then again, they (certain people) don't own an Excursion any longer.

Before you flame, yes certain items should be OEM and some items (proven in usage) are better as aftermarket.

That sucks, bet it only has a one year warranty also.

They fit the 6.0 and spin faster. Not sure about the 7.3.

Found this in a thread about starters. Check it out.

Don't bother with aftermarket anything, get a used 6.4 starter and love it
Drove mine to work today. Wife's car is waiting on a dust seal for the caliper.

The 7.3s have their own 2 bolt gear reduction starter that cranks the engine with some serious authority.

Well, yesterday, my EX became my daily again. Wife was in an accident, she fine, but her car may be a goner. Somebody was allowed to turn left between cars and smashed square into the drivers fender, hard. The vehicle that left the gap was a full size van with a camper top so she had no way to see a gap or a car coming. The other person got a ticket so Im hoping they waive the deductible.

So, there goes having the rust issues fixed as I have no backup car now. If it would be a few days I could make it but the guy said a couple of weeks. Price per hour goes down if hes allowed to take his time.

Every noise my truck makes I have to assign a reason to in my head. So when a new clank noise started over speed bumps I became concerned. Checked everything underneath in suspension, steering, exhaust multiple times yet the noise remained. I finally figured out today that it is my receiver hitch ball mount clanking around over bumps....I usually remove it and use a hitch cover, but the last few days I have been towing on and off so I left it in...sometimes it's the simple things.

There is no deductible when someone else is at fault. That persons insurance pays 100% of necessary repairs, and usually has a rental car option for the person who's vehicle is damaged.

The money isn't coming out of your pocket, so get it done sooner rather than later.

Just found this last night while cleaning the windows on the EX. Is this going to be a problem? Should I get the windshield replaced or just make sure it doesn't grow?

This is the very top at the passenger side.

Being on the edge I don't think it can be fixed. Safelite is fairly reasonable, I had to replace my Ex's a couple of years ago and it was about $300 and they came to my work.
