Dropped the truck off at the shop yesterday and will be picking it up today. After replacing the radiator I was still leaking coolant....because i was an idiot and didnt replace the hoses. Just decided to have the shop do it since I dont have the time now and i needed an oil change anyway.
Damn, new Mishimoto rad and you're still chasing problems.
Sorry brother. Hope it's an easy fix.

Like Tor posted, it's that unconditional love they give us. That look in their eyes, the wag of their tail, the way they can smile even though they can't smile.....

First thing I thought of when I saw his response.
I also have another "How To" in the pipeline being created by another member as he finds time. But y'all know me, multiple how-to's in the tech folder are a good thing!

As long as a rig has the trans fluid plumbed through the rad, the best transmission cooling upgrade a 7.3 or 6.8L owner can do is to swap in the 6.0L PSD transmission cooler.
Not sure if it was "needed".... But that's what I told my wife

Were 2000+ Excursions and Super Duty's equipped with the radiator cooler?
I was tracing mine yesterday and can't tell, guessing I don't have the right radiator.
Finished my tie rod install yesterday, just know that Motorcraft does not include the nut, castle sleeve or cotter pin. The tie rod that was on, must have been aftermarket. I measured with my digital caliper and used whiteout on the tie rod coming off. Worked very well. Penetrating oil is your friend for the sleeve.
This is crazy but going to look at another Ex tomorrow hopefully... Husband doesn't want two though so would have to sell ours. Ad says it is chipped and has supercharged engine. What should I ask about those? Also, looks like it has Harley wheels. Cray Cray.

For the first MY 2000 7.3L PSD Excursions built, the trans fluid was not routed thru the radiator. Early in the run (have no idea where the production date cutoff is) Ford switched to having the fluid routed thru and cooled by the radiator, then to the trans fluid cooler.
Ughhh, really? How can they sell it then because supposed to be smogged first.
The last time I checked, I couldn't find a single SC ever made for your Ford 2V V10 that had a CARB number, and without that CARB number, a part isn't California smog compliant.
How do people get around it? They pay for smog checks under the table.
That's something you would have to do every two years.
Unless you know someone who can hook you up, just take a pass. No shop will risk their license and the HUGE fine involved if they get caught.
Back in the day (20/25 years ago) it was nothing to slip the tech $50 bucks and he'd overlook some items (like a supercharger) and pass you anyway. But not anymore.
The last I heard, even some of my friends who use to have a connection 10 years ago (they were paying upwards to $300 for a passing smog check test), no longer have that connection because of how hard the state has been cracking down on smog shops.

Unless they are out of state but yes no seller from California is going to buy something that can't be smogged. Unless you know someone who lives in a County where smog isn't a issue which is rare but they are out there your good.
Why sell yours I thought it was your baby?
Better off getting diesel instead of supercharger.
My 2000 is plumbed through the radiator and then through the stock trans cooler... I was scratching my head a bit when I crawled underneath it to do the 6.0 conversion.
[/CENTER]Stewart_H;16247376]Don't even bother to go look, it won't pass CA Smog because of the supercharger.

i am not sure at all about that. if it is a whipple and they are using the whipple parts and electronics they may very well have a carb sticker.
My supercharged 8.1 liter chevy had a carb sticker. the kits were 50 state legal.
one other item to think about is a forced induction motor will not necessarily get better mileage, could get worse, and you have to feed it super unleaded.

Owner said he thinks it was successfully smogged last August and he bought in September.
Mine is my baby however this one is "purple" has 40 K less miles on it and looks to have Harley wheels?
Same year 2001, 4X4. Thought would be worth a looksy. Right down street from me.

I can't say with certainty because my memory isn't clear, but I'm pretty sure both superchargers made by Whipple and Kenne Bell for the V10 were not CARB compliant.
Even the very popular Whipple SC for the Ford Lightning doesn't have a CARB number (again, the last time I checked), and they still make 2 versions for the L, unlike the V10 SC they stopped making many, many years ago.
Since Whipple is in Fresno, I tried to call to ask, but realized it's well past 5pm.
I'll call tomorrow to get a definitive answer for us on any Whipple system being granted a CARB number.
