hey akex how do you think they keep them sand piles from freezing they dump all over anchorage? its not magic or hair dryers. The salt also helps to keep the sand pile from freezing.

Potassium acetate It's what they use in Anchorage. The Muni pre-wets some of the sand with sprayers on the trucks around Anchorage with it, and it helps the sand stick a little better during application.

I don't consider what's used on the sand as "salting" the roads. the roads are not wet and causing road spray below freezing like they do in a heavily salted area.

So, my "very little use" would be accurate. Spreading treated sand/gravel over hard packed ice/snow covered roads is just that, sanding.

Now head out on the state highways you will run into liquid and rock salt on the highways, in town though you don't. Exception being new roadways first being opened during slick months. The Elmore extension years ago and the Dowling extension this year both were salted for the first few months as it was a new traffic pattern.

Oh my god, I get that. But treated sand/gravel is NOT the same as salting/laying brine on a roadway. That is not what I consider "salting" a road. IE it's a very small amount of salt, just enough to keep the material usable.

I dunno, they were on the truck when I bought it. They were definitely made for it, cuz they are a perfect fit. I've never noticed any brand marking on them, but if I think of it over the weekend I'll look a little harder.

Anyone know boat steering systems in here? I bought a pontoon... The steering is damn near locked up because of the cable. The steering system is a Morse NOT the rack and pinon type (the other kind). It is hard to find much info on different models and part numbers and whats fits what.

I need a 15' cable, would any Morse 15' cable with strait cable end (not rack and pinion) work?

The radio works!

Russ is 100% spot on there. I mix salt/sand every fall with the Uncle to get ready for the winter and it would really impress you how little salt keeps sand malleable - almost negligible. I would LOVE if they used what a mix instead of straight salt around here.
