Yesterday I put two new Deka batteries in. I got tired of jumping it if just started and moved without letting it run.

I just had no reserve.

They were Motorcraft 4.5 year old units.

I also got the 12k Engo winch installed and swapped the steel cable out for Synthetic.

This is all on the 05 EX.

I did an oil change and fuel filter change on the 05 cclb. It still runs like crap. Dropping it off the the diesel guru I'm the a.m.

A beautiful day to be working in the Ex! All wheels are off, the new stainless 4x4 vac lines are on, brakes are up next...

More pics later as the day progresses.

On a side note, my hubs were stuck on. Even though they were twist locked off, they were still engaged. If you are using your locking hubs, make sure they unlock after you are done! I thought mine were running free, but apparently not...

Finally fixed a thumping issue I have been chasing for years. It was the stabilizer bushings. I also unplugged my glow plug relay because I have had random dead battery issues. The jury is still out on the glow plug relay being the issue. Ford mechanics were unable to diag either issue in 3 different visits. SMH.

New Napa battery went in today. While it was out I pulled out the battery tray to fix the broke hold down bolt. The hot wrench got it out but the threads were iffy, so I tapped it out for a 1/4" bolt then repainted the tray since it was looking a bit rough.

Just FYI, diesel Excursions came from the factory with a Glow Plug Control Module (GPCM). 7.3L F-Series trucks that are not California compliant have the Glow Plug Relay's (GPR).

Curious if anyone knows why the Ex's got the GPCM and the trucks got the relay....

I believe I've read something about it being California compliant. Aka the Cali super duties came with them as well

The California emissions equipped 7.3's got the module too, and all PSD equipped trucks starting with the 6.0L PSD's.

It was only the non-California trucks that got the relay.

Emissions related is why, according to what I have read on the forums over the years, not based on info I personally have discovered.

@Bently_Coop and I finished up the brakes. Not major issues, just a long day in the sun. So long that my head and neck got sunburned. The first of 2016 for me...

Here are some pics of the job before the sun went down...

Thanks for the help today Coop!

Lastly, my wheels FINALY shipped, they should be here in a week. According to the shipping company, it is a five piece shipment that weights a total of 551lbs.

551 POUNDS!!!!

Those are some heavy wheels and tires

David, looking great! you must be moving around decently, can't wait to see it with the new wheels and tires.

I'm taking my Ex down town tonight for some St Patrick's day fun! One in the group is not drinking so she's DD. I took tomorrow off with some built up PTO time so why not right?

It is a two stage process with a liquid cleaner wax that is tinted black and a black tinted liquid carnauba wax. It also has a few bottles of black tinted detail spray to help with wax removal and detailing. It wipes off of chrome or glass or the other colors without leaving them black, unless you had a scratch in one, then it can be difficult to get it out. However for your hands... If you use this stuff....wear gloves.

These pics are before cleaning the running boards, wheels/tires and windows and right after the last coat of wax.

Bought some of this stuff the other day based on your review / pictures. If I'm not satisfied, I will be seeking a refund from you !
