Jay, While you have the tank down now would be a good time to also remove the hitch to have better access to treat all areas back there as well as replace the round head hitch bolts with hex heads to make it easier to pull in the future if ever needed. I didn't have any proper sized hardware in my garage when I did my fuel pump so I just TIG welded a couple of big nuts to the round heads for the future. With the tank out of the way those round heads come out easy with a pipe wrench and a little heat to soften up the thread locker on them.

Or to be more precise, as of my post above, it was 6,294 posts ago.

I'll let someone else do the days, hours, and minutes if they want.

By the way Mecster, I checked with my buddy who owns a tire shop here locally to me and I had no luck trying to source the lug nuts for you.

Meant to text you earlier.

Hahahaha you guys are always good for a laugh whenever I log in.

I had made a stand for it.... That didn't go so well. So I decided to use the ATV as it was the right height and I was about to light more fires if I didn't get some progress going on the frigging thing

The 60 Johnson started right up though

I did the brakes, Stupid slide pins. I learned a lesson today don't just check that the slide pins are sliding when you check it pull them out and clean and re-lube. When they stick you have almost no time before it's dire.

Sounds like that triple is running quite well on two cylinders.

Those little old 15 omc's are bulletproof! We have two of them we use quite often. Run like a top! Your not firing I take it? No spark or fuel?

I rebuilt a 60 not to long ago that I have been abusing ever since. In fact I get to beat on it tomorrow again for work.

The boss testing it out first time out.

Sounds like 2 cylinders? That's what it has sounded like since I bought it 3 years ago! Must be time for a spark plug change. I'm a noob with stuff like this.

Had the fuel system all apart on the 15 (9.9) and its definitely getting fuel. Will go get some new plugs tomorrow. This one has been sunk in 25 feet of salt water and it still ran when it was put away. Of course it required a rebuild during which it was upgraded to a 15 hp, but like you said I heard they are quite the engine. I hope it gets up and running again.

Never know when the 60hp Hydroelectric shift will give me trouble. I have to get the special gear oil at the border since getting it in Canada is a pipe dream.

Cheers,

Nate

PS - thanks for the advice on the 60

She is ready to go back in!

Dropping the engine back in and getting mated too the transmission is by far the biggest pain in the *** of this whole project!

2 hours later I have it back in and on the dowel pins of the transmission .. What a pain!
