What did you do to the X today?
I've had lots of conversations with Mark K over the last couple of years, and his experience as a transmission engineer contradict that.
On the subject of fluid life vs. temperature:
On maximum temps for the 4R100:
And here:
And here:
In fact look at THIS POST, and see below for Mark's response:
To read the context, click on the little arrow next to his username in the quotes. I've read lots of transmission myth, hearsay, and legend, but none of it comes from one of the people who helped design the transmission.

But if these temps are not going to hurt the Excursion, I might just have to leave them as they are.
I also found out that wired up to the 03 switch the side to side adjustment is backwards, up and down adjustment is fine. Quickly I reversed the red and yellow wires and later found out that doesn't work. The changes needs to be done at the mirror motor or connector itself. Anyone have pics of how to get to said wires?
Great! Thanks for the link! Pulling and prying on plastic mirrors scares me.
So as we head into a beautiful weekend here on the Pacific Coast, I am getting ready to drop off my Ex on Sunday for about two weeks of work. She is going under the knife and the follow list of stuff is getting done...
- Mag Hytec trans pan, filter & fluids
- Bullet Proof Diesel oil cooler relocation kit with heavy duty cold weather package
- Driven Diesel Regulated fuel return, (eliminates the OEM fuel regulator all together) and has its own banjo bolts
- ARP Studs with new gaskets & "O" rings from block up, new glow plugs & harnesses, machine work on heads/check for cracks
- and a new fan belt.
Once all of this has been done. fingers crossed that the Ex is all but bullet proof! Shoot with all the $$$$ being spent, it should be a new truck by the time she is done!

Update on my trans.....the convertor decided it was time to puke. Not even a year old and about 10k miles. One of the nice billet ones too. I should have it back Monday all fresh and ready to go. Its a total rebuild with new parts under warranty. Really happy about that part of it....not for the trans guys though, sucks they have to redo that whole deal because of a part failure. Oh well, as long as my truck is 100% when I get it back......then I need to do the brakes.

I ended up using a small ratchet set and sneaking behind the large mirror with out pulling it of.
It can be done.
I have a whole array of tools, wobble ends, swivel sockets, and sorts of that stuff. Thanks for the tip! I will check it out and see how hard the screws are to get to with the mirrors still on.
I will be using it to haul my daughter back to school in a few months but we have used it to take stuff to storage and yes it carries a bunch but I didn't remove the seat...i just flipped it forward and let is sit there. It only took up a few inches of space and I didn't have to carry it.
