and I wish they had a true "dimmer" instead of the choice between "looking at the sun with a magnifying glass" and "burn out your retina"...would be nice if they could find a way to tie into the dash dimmer and give you some room to adjust.
Robert,
Great write-up and terrific job!
Do you find your right knee hits the corner of the F650 dash?
It looks like you don't have the power pedals? If you do, where
did you move the pedal adjust switch?
In the "old" truely analog gauge days, I would have suggested you
put a variable pot (resister) into the power wire that illuminates the
gauges, then you can adjust the brightness independant of the
dashboard brightness. Not sure with the "smart" guages if you
can still do that or not?

No, the panel is too far "down" towards the floor for any issues with leg room. No power pedals...were those even an option on the 2000 model? If I did, I suppose I would have either moved the switch to that thin panel above the fuse panel but below the gauges, or ordered a 6 switch setup and checked with RiffRaff to see if they could have cut a custom panel to hold it. I needed all 9 slots though, so I probably would have moved it below the gauge cluster.

The GlowShift gauges dont have a dedicated light wire...it's ground, power (the gauge AND light power), dim trigger and memory power. It appears to be lit with LEDs, and if you watch the "power down" sequence, the face, needle and peak indicator are all shut down independent of each other.
I think the way GlowShift could fix it would be to put a tiny adjustment on the back of each gauge to adjust the "dim" level. The full bright is fine and necessary to be seen in direct sunlight, but only dimming 30% isn't enough in my opinion.
I had dream my Ex was stolen last night and someone left a trashed Ex in it's place. In the dream I thought WTF doesn't this thing have a PATS key? then I thought, I know, I'll ask the guys on FTE how the F that could happen. Wierd, wierd dream...

The only issue I had was my steering wheel was square before, when I put that cover on it was so tight that the steering wheel conformed to the cover. Strange I know. I mean no, it fits fine.
so the american wheel was not round and the tiawan cover was? hmmm. my wife dont like them covers but i dont like looking at a worn off painted leather wheel either. might go get one tonight.
