In the process of....it is in far more capable hands than mine. I took two weeks off to collect fur and feathers. The day before I was due to start I was returning home with fresh oil and filters for the X and she decided to blow a plug out! This was the second time for that cylinder and from the looks of it when the original owner had it fixed the dealership did not correct it properly. Long story short...a few more problems were observed and well...I went for the new engine with warranty option. Just cut into the new springs/tire fund.

Changed out the alternator tonight. Was gone all day and at first I thought I'd just get it off tonight and exchange it tomorrow. Well I called Autozone and they had it in stock, and I thought I could get there by 9:00 when they closed, so I rushed. They called and said they'd stay open a few minutes for me, and I got there at 9:02. They had it ready and I exchanged the old one. When I got back, I noticed some residue on the top end of the engine (behind where the alternator was), so I started checking the intake manifold bolts. They were all loose to a degree, so I tightened all of them. My dad, who was spectating/supervising the whole time, thought he would help by putting a flashlight in the back for the back bolt. Well, that flashlight fell way down into the valley of the engine in the back, and it took a half hour or so to get it out. After that was done, the alternator went in easy!
Here I am trying to get that flashlight out:
Does anyone know if this is the factory alternator? I mean, if it isn't, it has been on there for more than the ~45,000 miles I've had it.
After all that, I now have a fog light out...

[quote=wpnaes;11030322]Picked up some used 315 tires- even Sunny SoCal needs a little tread... Prolly cost me more to mount than the $10 each I paid for them.
Hmm anyone tried the hand mount method? Really sorry about that background . Old School,,Mounting a tire on a rim with hammer and screwdriver in minutes. - YouTube
Maybe not this clowns method..
Harbor Freight tire changer Part 2 - YouTube
Sean,
Put the rim on your tire carrier.....it will hold it while you mount the tire......plus it keeps it up in the air when you mount the second bead....first bead is super easy.....lube it up a little and push it right on......second bead you can work on with 2 flat prybars or large screw drivers......the larger tires are eay to mount by hand......the guy on the harbor freight video is not really using it properly....he's making it harder than it is.

My wife is saying, you'll have been able to pay for new tires with all the stuff you need to 'do-it-yourself'.
"Yeah, but what fun would that be?"
