New to me 07 F150
Hi guys. I have been out of the Ford loop for a few years and am now a proud owner of a 2007 Supercab. It's got the 5.4/auto, XLT, 3.73LS, 4x2, 42,000mi etc. 2007 F150 pictures from trucks photos on webshots My first order of business is to get rid of the black grill, bumper and lights. Also add a rear bumper and receiver hitch. The blackout look is not my thing. Seems that Ebay has some good deals on the lights. I also plan some sort of exhaust and intake mods. Lift kit also may be in the future too. I know that I will have questions and this has always been the best place to ask. I will need another key and key fobs,(I only got one key with the truck) So if anyone has a good place to get these I'd like to know. I look forward to chatting with ya all!!

Since you only have one key, you cannot program another one. This means you get to go to the dealer, get a key, and get it programmed to your truck.
After that, you can buy any PATS compatible key and program your own (procedure is in the OM). I recommend you buy at least two additional keys (they'reabout $12 each) and program them as soon as you have two unique PATS keys.
Fobs can be programmed at any time, but you have to program them all at once.
Check out my profile page Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - View Profile: shotgunz for links to OMs, window stickers, etc.

Where did you get the grill from?

Howdy, and welcome back!
As shotgunz stated, you need 2 working keys to program any others. Personally, I have had excellent luck getting new keys & fobs on eBay. But, I would check with site sponsors first (http://www.y2kfordparts.com/ comes to mind), as they may be competitively priced.
As for mods, I would save the money & keep the OEM intake system. It filters better than most aftermarket filters & flows more than enough air for any motor that will probably only see tuner/programmer & exhaust upgrades. If you get really serious about making power, and start looking at turbo(s) or a supercharger, then I would say you could benefit from an aftermarket intake.

If you only want one extra key you can buy one from Ace Hardware and they program it there for you while you shop takes about 10 minutes and the cost is less then $70. Not a bad deal.
This is cheaper for the first key that you will need if you decide down the road you want to program more then the ones from a dealer.

I was told to try 1000 grit and wet sand the lights to remove the black smoke paint that was on the lights. I started with the 3rd brake light figuring if I mess it up it won't be as obvious. The 1000 was just dulling the paint so I jumped to some 220 I had on hand. That worked a lot better but took a lot of effort. I then got my Ryobi mouse finishing sander which had some 150 on it. It stripped off the paint in no time. I then went back to the 220 then wet sanded it with the 1000 till it was smooth. So far the 3rd brake light is a little cloudy(from the sanding) I may try some 2000 grit and buff/polish it and see it that helps. It clears up when wet so a coat of clear spray may do the trick. I think this method will work ok on the red tail lights but I don't know if I want to try it on the clear headlights. It won't be perfect but it's cheaper than buying all new lenses.

Finally got around to finishing the tail lights and the headlights. They turned out great! Started with 220g on the headlights then used the 500g disks in the 3M kit. Then the 800g from the kit, then 1000wet and then 2000wet. Finished with the 3000 from the kit then polished. Total investment is just under $40 and several hours of my time. Replacements would have been over $200.

Update on my progress. Ordered some keyfobs off Ebay and got them working. Had to disconect the battery to clear things so the programing would work. Also got a Lariet grill off Ebay. CHEAP. I had a Edelbrock RPM muffler (1998 era) in my shop from a 97 F150 that I had. I installed that inplace of the stock muffler and used the pieces from the tail pipe to make a side exit befor the tire system. Sounds just right. I did the Gotts intake mod as well. While surfing craigslist I came accross an ad for Extang Tonno covers for $50. New in the box. I bought one and it was perfect. Finally, I built a receiver hitch to fit behind the roll pan. Next is replacing the black front bumper with a chrome one and painting the upper bumper silver. I did have a vibration at 55mph and up. Took it to Discount Tire and had them rotate and balance the tires. That fixed it. Now it rides great.
