tanny od light and speedo

here is the problem my fathers od light is flashing and his speedo doesnt work anymore. this has happened befor but for the life of me i dont remember what the fix was. any and all help is appreciated, and i need the fixes in a easiest( trained monkey can do it) to take it to a mechanic. normally i would post, read and then fix. but i am not going to be around the farm for 7 more months so dad has ot fix his own truck. its a 2000 f 350 single wheel with 280000. it has a dp tuner on it also if that helps any.

Check the speed sensor on top of the rear end, sometimes just the wiring, most of the time they need replaced. About a $25 dollar part. Easy.

Yep, check what frog lol said. NAPA calls it the ABS sensor.

I think Ford calls them the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) if you go the OEM route.

Just one bolt and a 2 wire connector. Piece of cake to change.

VSS on the top of rear diff.

that is most likely the cause, but if not, it could be the speed sensor on top of the transmission, but probably the one on the rear end

How would the speed sensor on top of the transmission affect the speedometer? I can't see how that would happen.

it happend with a truck of ours, but like i said, its not likely, but its a possibility
