I've had a few experiences with a Chevy Suburban, a 1996 to be exact, but not sure if it's the same as the 2000-2001 ones. My brother-in-law has one, it's pretty high mileage for a Chevy 1500, around 150K miles or so right now I think. He bought it from HIS brother-in-law, who has a 2000-2001 Suburban, so anything I mention here is second-hand, but here goes.
2001: Three trannies under warranty. He used it to tow a pretty big trailer, but I don't think any of the failures were towing related, as he hadn't even used it to tow before this happened. Not sure what else was going on, but I think he got rid of it quickly.
1996: first-hand experience: 150K miles, and the 5.7, although painstakingly maintained, developed major main bearing knock around 130K - it's still running, but leaking out the rear main because the mains are so loose, but it continues to run even though it's leaking worse than a BP oil well. Lots of brake issues, interior parts marginal (like the heater ***** and stuff breaking), ABS issues because of the well-known rust issue under the sensors pulling them away from the tone-ring plus one bad sensor causing the "on-ice" feel on dry pavement - as in going through stop-signs, you name it.
All stuff that my Fords never ever had a problem with. Go figure.

my experience is with the old ones also.
74 2500 with the 454 and beefed up springs for towing. around 60k miles the trans lost forward gears in Georgia. had it rebuild down there. around 130k miles, it developed a bottom end knock. put another 35k on it before the body rotted off it and i parted it out in 88.
84 2500 with the tow package broke the speedometer cable at 105k miles, sold it in 97 at 125k miles when we sold the 32 ft home on wheels.
both of these rigs were used to tow the trailer all over the country.
both were very dependable vehicles.
the only disappointment with the 84 was that the 454 was not an option.
with the 350 being the largest engine available, it needed 456 gears to tow, and that killed the fuel mileage.
