I hear ya, have a chevy now that spent it's fair amount of time in the shop, 2 trans., 1 rear-end, 2 sets of intake gaskets, and other small stuff. I didn't like it, and am considering that issue, thanks.

When the 6.0's were running good...it was love! However, there was a lot of hate when they were in the shop. As you can see...I drive a V10. Educate yourself before making a decision. Keep us up to date.
I think I have spent the better part of my evenings looking through threads, and now know about EGR, head gasket, HPOP, injector problems and the list goes on. I still think I am leaning toward the V10. What does your 5 Star tuning do for you?

The 5-Star tuner really helped the tranny shifting and increase in power. However, the fun factor jumps in and I can't keep my foot off the floor and mileage suffers. Good thing I only drive it on weekends and vacation. I think the 5-Start had more to offer on the earlier V10's, if I remember correctly your looking at the newer 3v-V10? Still room for improvement but not as much as the 2v-V10. Call and talk with Mike at 5-Star for details. Good luck!

6.0 verus the v 10

2009 V10, Crew King Ranch, Long bed, 410 MPG 14<o></o>
2005 6.0 diesels Crew King Ranch, short, 373 MPG 15 <o></o>
<o></o>
I have owned both. I currently have a V10. My 2005 6.0 diesel has had in the last 3 years, 2 sets of head gaskets, FCM, 2 times for the Turbo, HPOP, Turbo boot problems, 2 sets of dash gauges, EGR cooler, Oil Cooler. '<o></o>
I take VERY good care of this truck. To prevent the problems above I have used APP studs on after the first head gasket, did not hold. An fs2500 bypass filter still changed the oil at 4000, and a coolant filter.
The diesel never custom tune or performance modification.
<o></o>
That diesel truck in the last 6 month has coasted me more the v10 will use in two years of gas at 4 Bucks a gallon. <o></o>
<o></o>
My diesel is for sell, but it has a history on it that will make your cry. That being said I am looking for Cummins 5.9 12v to replace my engine in my diesel truck. The diesel engines beginning 2003.5 have had lots of issues. It takes too much to meet EPA smog. Until they get it write I will be with my V10.<o></o>
<o></o>
My v10 get 8 to 9 towing a 9k travel trailer. My diesel got about 10. What is the big deal in the MPG? I love the sound and power of a diesel I just did not have the pocket book for it. <o></o>
<o></o>
If you are looking diesel look at the dodge line of trucks they have the smallest percent of Lemon law buy backs. <o></o>
<o></o>
Sorry for the rant

One more thing the V10 upgrade from 5 Stars Tunning is GREAT.

OK, I have been looking and looking for a V-10 in a 250 or 350 CC, but damn if I'm gonna find one. I think there are only 1 or 2 on Ebay, the same at carsforsale.com, and none on carmax. I haven't looked at the local places yet, Kansas City, but have seen lots of 5.4L V-8. Is that going to work pulling 10,000#'s? My 6.0L gasser w/ 4:10's has a hard, HARD time with it, but that may be from a 1/2 ton tranny vs. a 3/4 or 1 ton tranny.

I had a 1999 v10 that pulled a 15000 5th wheel It would pull fine on a flat road and very small hills but when I would get to the big hills in my area the v10 had a very hard time pulling it up the hill and then coming down the hill the brakes would over heat and start to smoke I traded it off for a 2005 6.0L drw and it pulled so much better than the v10 up and down hills would never go back with a v10
