89 ranger 2.9l power loss
I was dealt an 89 ranger and when i got it the truck ran fine till it got warm and would lose all power... i have changed the motor in the truck and still the problem persists. after the motor change it does not even hesitate, right out of the gates it has no power. i have changed the fuel filter, plugs, wires, coil, checked timing, checked firing order, changed little module on the bottom of the distributer nearest the firewall... fuel pump works but have not been able to test pressure, was told to check catalytic converter, and emission schematics, and key codes, been looking online for a site for emission schematics and key codes, could anyone help me with ether? and how do i check the cat. conv.?
Any help would be appreciated, in advance, Thank You!

Even tho it is POSSIBLE that it could be a bad computer we have found that in loss of power/"jerking"/ no power situations, are USUALLY caused by a clogged (bad) strainer, which is about a $15 part and is attached to your fuel pump (located in your gas tank). Chased that problem for months!!! Should replace that strainer AT LEAST every 50-75K miles. Good luck.
