help with 351 carb conversion

I have a question about the e.e.c iv computer profile in reference to the fuel pump circuit. I have converted a f.i. 351w to carburetor. The issue lies in the power from the standard f.i. fuel pump. What I don't know/understand is if the computer references the the pip signal from the distributor and uses this logic to control whether the pump is on or off. The way the system appears to work is : key on-1.5 sec prime, crank-pump on, run-pump on???if pip signal present??? The information I have is devoid of any real detail.

You have it figured out. It uses the PIP signal.

I just got done with my carb conversion. To turn pumps on you ground out the #6 port in the self-test port. Then they will come on when the key is on. The tank switch still works and all.

Thank you Mr.pro70golfer14 that was the info I was looking for. Since you have completed the same swap I'm in the middle of. Do you know of a easy/simple way to acquire the correct length rear drive shaft i.e. out of a van or something?
